I have been struck by these irises in our front yard the last couple of days. They never seem to fully open. I don't know if they don't have the best soil or what, but they always seem to try and open before they are fully ready and yet they work so hard and push their little yellow faces out before most irises are opening. They endure each year and come back to show their little shiny faces at the beginning of spring. A picture of endurance for me.
