I have enjoyed reading blog postings friends have posted on Facebook on what the season of Lent can be about, mostly a chance to look for God at work; to stop and remember that this time should be about drawing closer to God. When we pay attention, it never seems to fail that God shows up.
Coincidences are flying high in the last couple of weeks. A blog post on mercy (http://shereadstruth.com/2015/02/26/come-mercy/) used the same text from Isaiah that our pastor used on Sunday to talk about a different kind of fast than giving up chocolate. We spent time talking about modern-day slavery at church and filling my Facebook feed are #endit pictures, red x's drawing attention to the 27 million people who are enslaved around the world. Definitely thinking that God may be using this time to talk to me about issues around the world.
Haven't done a lot of research myself (or explored this website), so this is very unprofessional of me, but I am posting it here:

Something I want to explore more. A good chance to remember that there is work to be done in the world. A question my husband and I are asking ourselves recently: what is it we are called to do in this world (or even our small corner of this world)? How are we to come alongside the vulnerable? What might our mission be outside of our home? Where/To what is God calling us as individuals? A couple? A family? Plenty of things to ponder...
