Don't Cry for Me Argentina

After an all-night flight (of which I dozed quite a bit, but never got a good amount of sleep in) we arrived in Buenos Aires and had a slight break before we headed out for our first adventures. I am with a group of 12 other students from my university (three of which are also graduate students, the rest are undergrad) and one professor. We started our Argentine adventure by finding food on our own and then heading off to an art museum. I must say, I really like when artists give their artwork a name. I think it lets the viewer have a much deeper understanding of what the artist was trying to say, but that is my personal bias. I got a little tired of looking at modern art titled "untitled."
After some time at the art museum, and even though we were all exhausted and ready for a nap, we continued on walking through the city and visited the Cementerio de la Recoleta. This is a cemetery that is famous for several reasons; one it is in the middle of the city, two it is full of family graves that are above ground (similar to the ones in Costa Rica), and three it is where Eva Peron (better known as Evita) is buried.
Here you will see a picture of me next to the monument to her. We decided we were all too tired to continue with anything else planned, so we bummed around the city a little and then headed back to the hotel. We waited as long as we could to eat dinner- 8pm- knowing that the regular dinner time here is 9-10pm. Then it was off to bed for all of us tired Americans. We are definitely going to be busy, busy, busy during our few days in Buenos Aires.
Ciao!
